Free A1C Testing for Blood Donors This March

The Red Cross is offering free A1C and prediabetes screenings to all blood donors this month. With nearly 23% of Americans unaware they have diabetes – and over a third who have prediabetes – this initiative could be life-changing.

When you donate blood, plasma, or platelets to the the Red Cross this month, you’ll receive free A1C testing that screens for diabetes and prediabetes. It’s a simple way to give back to your community while learning more about your own health.

Get results in 1 to 2 weeks. Donors can access their results within one to two weeks via the Red Cross Blood Donor app or online donor portal. If your A1C levels are elevated (6.5% or higher), consult with a healthcare provider. Anyone who donates in March, 2025 also receives a $10 Amazon gift card via email.

8.7 million people undiagnosed. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 8.7 million adults who met the laboratory criteria for diabetes were undiagnosed, which accounts for almost a quarter of people living with diabetes in the U.S.
